Mozilla Firefox is a leading, full-featured Web browser. It’s fast and includes useful features such as pop-up blocking, tab-browsing, integrated Google search, simplified privacy controls, and a streamlined browser window that shows you more of the page than any other browser. There are a number of additional features that can help you get the most out of your time online.Free Download
Get to your favorite sites quickly – even if you don’t remember the URLs. Type your term into the location bar (aka the Awesome Bar) and the autocomplete function will include possible matches from your browsing history, bookmarked sites and open tabs.
The Awesome Bar learns as you use it - over time, it adapts to your preferences and offers better-fitting matches. We’ve tweaked it to give you greater control over the results (including privacy settings) and increased performance so you find what you need even faster.
Experience super-fast graphics acceleration of video and Web content with a new layers-based graphics system that takes advantage of Direct2D and Direct3D on Windows.
Dress Up Your Firefox with Personas
Change the look of your Firefox to practically anything with Personas: thousands of easy-to-install themes created by users from around the world (or that you make yourself!). With a single click, you can dress your browser up in simple designs, colorful patterns, and content from partners like Harry Potter and Bob Marley.
Everyone likes to browse their own way, so we’ve made it easy to adjust the Firefox interface to be exactly the way you like it: re-arrange, organize, add or remove buttons or fields to change your browsing experience however you want. Just right click on the navigation toolbar and select the Customize option to get started.
100,000s of Ways to Customize
The sky’s the limit with a growing library of thousands of Firefox add-ons, little extras you choose to download and install for a browser that works your way. Manage online auctions, upload digital photos, see the weather forecast in a glance and listen to music all from the convenience of your browser.
Newest Web Technologies
Site authors and developers will love Firefox’s new and enhanced functionalities. If creating advanced content and applications gets you excited, Firefox is the best browser choice.
You have to see it to believe it. Thanks to our upgraded graphics engine, the rendering of text and graphics, including SVG and Canvas, is faster and sharper than ever before. Firefox automatically color-corrects images (like your digital photos) to make sure the colors are exactly as their data intended.
Emphasis on Accessibility
By minimizing keystrokes, allowing users to zoom in on Web pages and supporting screen readers, Firefox is that much easier to use for those with mobility disabilities and visual impairments.
Go beyond translation and experience the web in a way that makes sense to you. Local developers who know what’s best for their community have customized your Firefox browsing experience with local dictionaries, search providers, live bookmarks and Web feeds.
Better Text Rendering
Read your language as it’s written—more like real life. Our graphics engine renders Arabic, Persian, Punjabi and other script languages in a remarkably seamless way.
Instant Web Site ID
Want to be extra sure about a site’s legitimacy before you make a purchase? Click on its favicon for an instant identity overview. Another click digs deeper: how many times have you visited? Are your passwords saved? Check up on suspicious sites, avoid Web forgeries and make sure a site is what it claims to be.
Sometimes it’s nice to go undercover: turn this feature on and protect your browsing history. You can slip in and out of private browsing mode quickly, so it’s easy to go back to what you were doing before as if nothing ever happened. This feature is great if you’re doing your online banking on a shared computer or checking email from an Internet café.
Do Not Track
Many sites track your online behavior and sell that data to advertisers. If that makes you uncomfortable, Firefox lets you tell sites you want to opt out of behavioral tracking and keep your browsing habits private.
Firefox protects you from viruses, worms, trojan horses, and spyware delivered over the Web. If you accidentally access an attack site, it will warn you away from the site and tell you why it isn’t safe to use.
Firefox integrates elegantly with your Windows anti-virus software. When you download a file, your computer’s anti-virus program automatically checks it to protect you against viruses and other malware, which could otherwise attack your computer.
Clear Recent History
Clear all your private data or just your activity over the past few hours with a few quick clicks. You have full control over what to delete, and then your info is gone for good—on your own computer or the one at your local library. It’s that easy.
Mozilla Firefox is our favorite browser in this ever-changing scene. Since its launch in late 2004, Firefox has been steadily increasing its popularity in terms of global usage when compared to the leading web browser, Internet Explorer (IE).
In comparison to Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, Firefox remains my preferred browser because of its overall versatility, and it’s continuously improving. Since early 2011, Firefox has been releasing, what they call, Rapid Releases, so we can expect to see several new Firefox versions in a year.
One of my favorite features is the synchronization capability. Similar to many other major internet browsers, Firefox has adopted this useful feature. You can sync your browsing so you can access your history, passwords, bookmarks and more on your desktop or mobile browsers. The browser also has tabbed browsing, allowing you to quickly navigate between webpages in a single window. You can reorder tabs, organize them into customizable groups using the Panorama feature and perform a redo function when you accidentally close tabs.
The browser also has a handful of convenience features that make browsing easier and quicker. The find-on-page function is sleek and non-intrusive, allowing you to easily find a word or phrase on a particular webpage. Firefox puts the feature right on the bottom of the browser so you don’t have to deal with a pop-up window. The internet browser also has a voice interaction add-on. The feature allows you to browse the internet through simple voice commands.
Firefox is an ideal browser for college students and other individuals who conduct research online. Mozilla has developed virtual sticky notes, a feature unique to Firefox. You can add your own notes to specific webpages and access them through the toolbar. You can also access your saved bookmarks, archived browsing history and pinned apps. The “pin as app tab” feature allows you to save frequently visited websites – think Facebook or your web-based email – as icons on the toolbar. That way, you can easily access them without opening a new tab.
The browser’s innovative Smart Location Bar will adapt to your use and preferences. This handy tool makes it easy to return to websites you've previously visited, even if you don't remember the exact URL. It also helps you locate sites based on titles and content. Firefox also includes form complete, a pop-up blocker, a password manager and parental controls. Another nice feature is the drag-and-drop functionality, which allows you to drag text or a link from anywhere on a web page and put it directly into your search bar.
A few of the features Firefox doesn’t have include thumbnail previews and mouse gestures, or mouse movements that represent specific shortcuts. These would be convenient built-in features to have but aren’t essential. You can also install extensions compatible with Firefox that enable mouse gestures and voice interaction.
Firefox is an early adopter if not an innovator of advanced web browsing, evidenced by the browser’s latest release. It is a simple, user-friendly browser, with numerous add-ons for advanced users looking for a fully customized browsing experience as well as a basic, hassle-free interface for more casual browsers. The internet browser trails a few competitors on some benchmarks, but the differences are nominal and Mozilla Firefox proves to be one of the top internet browsers around.
